During Social Value Week, we are recognising the social value contributions of some of our partners, including Wealdens, our cleaning contractor and Ian Williams, our decorations contractor.

Due to the rise in cost-of-living pressures, families and residents across Kent have struggled with financial worries. Our partners have helped us, in supporting you.

During the recent winter months, some of the residents in our older person schemes were concerned about rising energy costs. We wanted to make sure they had information about the various support available. Wealdens helped to fund Citizens Advice North and West Kent to deliver a fuel poverty awareness programme at five schemes for older people. Those attending the talks learnt how to access financial support and reduce energy use. An additional training event was also delivered for West Kent staff, so they can support residents who could not attend the talks.

“A big thank you to Wealdens for funding this much needed talks programme,” said Kevin O’Reilly, Funding and Social Value Lead. “The residents who took part now are better equipped to cope with cost-of-living pressures.”

Our youth team wanted to provide a free chocolate easter egg for all children and young people attending our youth projects this Easter.

We approached Ian Williams who were delighted to provide easter eggs for 140 children, including a range of alternative eggs for those with allergies or special diets.

“We are so grateful for this support from Ian Williams,” said Ross Brotherwood, Youth Services Lead. “These small gestures show that our contractors care about the communities we support, and this can make a big difference.”

West Kent marks Transgender Awareness Week

This Transgender Awareness Week, we took a step toward in building inclusive communities by hosting a lunch and learn session. Led by Lio, a West Kent resident and member of the transgender community, the session was an eye-opening opportunity to explore the importance of trans-inclusion in our everyday lives.
