We kicked off International Women’s Day 2023 celebrations with a Women at West Kent breakfast in our Sevenoaks office. The breakfast session was a chance to get together to celebrate the amazing women we have here at West Kent, hear some of their stories, and discuss the 2023 theme of #EmbraceEquity.

Barbara Home, Executive Director of Strategic Programmes chaired the breakfast and invited colleagues to share their thoughts on this year's theme. #EmbraceEquity

Maria Organ, Executive Director of Finance shared her thoughts on what the International Woman’s Day theme, #EmbraceEquity meant to her in work and home life. It is important for us to all celebrate International Women’s Day so we can offer flexibility and understanding. To me the theme means well paid maternity leave, flexible working, an affordable early year’s childcare system, paid paternity leave options that equal paid maternity leave. It means a properly funded social care system. It means having a career that can progress alongside having family commitments (young and old).

The session gave colleagues the opportunities to share individual and collective experiences.
