How we plan to make our website more accessible and compliant with the WCAG 2.2 guidelines.
By 1 January 2025, we will ensure:
- All forms use pre-filled autocomplete attributes to allow browsers to help users fill in forms with known information, such as their name and email address.
- The search form in the navigation is correctly wrapped in <li>.
- All website forms contain field sets containing legends to describe their contents.
- Form border controls appear sufficiently distinct from their surroundings to the ratio 3:1.
- The label within the ‘Location’ fragment has a valid ‘for’ attribute.
- Autofocus the search icon, so you no longer need to tab to that area twice to get the search input.
- The the main menu is not hidden by the quick links menu when 300-400% zoom is used.
By 31 May 2025, we will reprocure our website and address some larger accessibility issues such as:
- Adjusting contrast ratios to the minimum level of 4.5:1 to ensure all text sufficiently contrasts with its background colour.
- Ensuring all forms (including the search input) define explicit text labels for each form control.
- Ensure all headings are in hierarchical and logical order.
